Disclaimer: please take newspaper articles with a pinch of salt - sometimes quotes are a little extreme or bigged up, so not everything is completely accurate. That said, overall it's really fab and positive view of Manga in the UK.

Notes: The quote about Italians and pizza was from Dramacon, but it seems the interviewer left that info out XD sorry Svet! But I did it for you! And LOL, everyone should avoid analysing the word "manga" with a barge pole. It really is all semantics to be perfectly honest. Using the word "Manga" is just a way to categorise a product for bookstores and consumers. For me personally, it's just the easiest way to describe my style ^^ I also get annoyed if something is classed as Manga when it blatantly isn't, just to up sales. That said, this is where differences of opinion lie - my definition of Manga may be a little broader than yours. And that's fine, really ^^

"she of the Vatican warrior priest costume"

And so you shall be forever known from this day forth... XD XD XD;;

That was cool, though. :) I'm glad people aren't just categorising it as "porn/bloodbath/both" anymore, heh.

Aha, the famous manga/pizza quote made its way in there! ^__^ Had to be said, I guess...
OMFG I wasn't expecting the interviewer to actually mention all of that XD He called me whilst I was on my way home from the ball, he asked what the event was so I told him. Next thing I know, my cosplay ends up being in the news!!! XD LOL

It is a wonderfully happy and positive article, given the stupid things about anime/manga/videogames and how it is evil in the Daily Mail a few months ago.

Again, I stress please to take all quotes lightly - of course, I understand the purist argument as well and acknowledge the differences between UK artists and Japanese artists etc. etc. but yeah, when putting in layman's terms... XD
Heh, heh, fantastic! ;) More, if not completely accurate than normal, at least...

Sooner or later someone's going to publish technical guidelines to what is and isn't manga. Something like "The ratio between eye and mouth size must not be lower than 2.5" or something.
At least they only got a few things wrong. You know the rumours about SelfMadeHero publishing the manga on Wine? Some interviewer took "Well, maybe we'd consider it" to be "We're definitely publishing it!" which for some reason got all over the papers XD

LOL, OMG yes. I think writing a technical guide would be quite eye-opening XD
